Mark de Krosse
A human, yet no-nonsense approach.
Let me introduce myself.
My name is Mark de Krosse… pleased to meet you! In 2019, I decided to pursue formal training to become a mediator, enabling me to work as an MfN-registered mediator. The training, combined with my extensive experience as an entrepreneur and managing director-majority shareholder (DGA) in a large family business, provides me with a solid foundation to help resolve business disputes as a business mediator.
In addition to the general training, I also completed specialized courses in family mediation and employment mediation. The combination of my experience and specializations allows me to take on a wide range of mediations, including highly complex ones. These experiences complement each other immensely.
Personal Background
I was born in 1969, so I’m in my fifties. Although I was born in Deventer, I grew up in Arnhem, where I spent my childhood. After completing my law studies in Groningen, I returned to Arnhem.
Eventually, due to work in the Randstad, I ended up in Badhoevedorp, just a stone’s throw from Amsterdam. I’ve been living there for about twenty years now with my partner Linda and our two daughters. If I may modestly mention my strongest personality traits, they are analytical, reflective, and empathetic.
Career in short
After completing my studies, I joined my parents’ family business as a partner in 1994. The company was going through a difficult period, but after a successful turnaround, it was placed in a secure position a few years later. I then joined a small consultancy firm, where I had the opportunity to work on some exciting projects as a Business Consultant.
In the subsequent work environment, I was truly able to spread my wings. After a brief period as CFO, I was given the chance to take on the role of CEO in an internationally operating family business with over 200 employees. Together with a business partner and the existing management team, we were able to acquire the company’s shares and significantly expand the organization. After nearly 20 years, it was time for a change. My co-shareholders and I exited the business and transferred ownership in 2021.
Changing Course
The ambition to lead a large company had been fulfilled and checked off the “bucket list.” Naturally, I still wanted to do something meaningful. Throughout my career, I have dealt with all kinds of conflicts, both small and large. Most of these conflicts were within the context of business families. On rare occasions, I was directly involved, but more often than not, I was “called to the table” to help find a solution. This usually happened within my network, outside my own company. It always feels great when it works, and it leaves me wanting to do more.
The step to becoming an MfN-registered mediator wasn’t that big in the end.
Room for other Passions
In addition to mediation, I engage in a few other activities. One of my great passions is making music. I play the piano and guitar. I have a practice and recording studio behind my house where I spend a lot of time. Additionally, my partner and I are avid skiers. We try to spend at least a few weeks each winter in the French Alps.
I also set aside one day a week to volunteer for Victim Support Netherlands. There, I try to contribute to the General Services Team.
Through all these diverse activities, I meet many different people, each with their unique stories. That makes life fascinating.
DKM Mediation
I have my own office and consultation space in a building located in the center of Badhoevedorp. The space is atmospherically and comfortably furnished and easily accommodates four to six people for discussions. This can be at the table or more casually in the seating area.
I share the building, of which I have the top floor, with a real estate agent, a mortgage and financial advisory firm, and an accounting office. It is clear that we can often complement each other well.
